The truth about technology – is it really bad?Opinion.
No it’s not.
But it’s how we use such a powerful tool that either makes it beneficial or harmful for all of us.
Couple of weeks back, I shared (on my Instagram stories) an upcoming movie called Upgrade and, finally, I was able to watch it last night.
It’s a story of a man who lost his wife and got a “smart” chip implanted onto his neck.
This chip made him so powerful, that he can do anything beyond his own capabilities – including, hunting down the people who “killed” his wife (that even the FBI wasn’t able to do).
What surprised him was that, this chip has a life and agenda of its own.
Of course, he was only able to realize this when things had gone so far down – and unfortunately, too late for him to go back and change his decisions.
Although he tried to reverse it in the end, he couldn’t. But you see, he didn’t intend for all that to happen. He didn’t even know what this chip could do – to him and to others!
We call technology (even social media) “negative” and “bad”. But it’s not!
You see, without social media we wouldn’t have been aware of the weight of what’s already going on in Kerala. But we did. And through social media, we were able to help a lot of lives.
Technology is scary, yeah. Even scarier to think that one day it can bite us back in the bum, and do the things that we’re supposed to do.
I mean, if you look around you, it is starting to happen!
Here in Dubai, you barely see attendants in the Dubai Mall cinemas because it’s all becoming digitalized.
But again, all these things, have its own sets of pros and cons.
It all depends how and where we use it for.
For those of you who are interested, Upgrade is now out on Digital, and will be released in Blu-ray on August 28th.
I highly recommend watching this film. It’s quite gruesome, but it was a huge eye opener for me on what technology can do.
